    [0006] With reference to Figure 1, an adjustable cosmetic applicator 10 according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention generally consists of a gripping member 12, a rod member 20, a an application member 40 and a flexible portion 30 defined between the shank member 20 and the application member 40. In the illustrated embodiment, the shank member 12 is detachably mounted on a cosmetic container 60 (see Figure 5), the grip member 12 in the form of a cap. For example, a male screw portion 62 is formed on the inlet side of the cosmetic container 60 and a female screw portion 14 is formed on the inner periphery of the gripper 12 so as to be threadably assembled on the male screw portion 62 of the cosmetic container 60, thereby causing the detachable coupling of the two parts. [18] The rod member 20 extends from an open end 16 of the gripper 12. In the illustrated embodiment, the rod member 20 is constituted by a rod 22 which extends from a platform 24 positioned inside the gripping member 12.
